Aloha, Hawaii! Day 1

Well, last week heaven smiled down upon us and I was able to go with Michael on a very last minute business trip to Hawaii. Our neighbors, the Hendry's, watched Isabel and Collin, while we took off for four days to paradise.

On the plane we met some 'locals' who had some great tips on where to visit. When we got off the plane we didn't waste time. We went straight from the airport to North Shore on Oahu to go to a great little Mexican restaurant they recommended, Cholos. Afterward we went for a drive along some beautiful beaches and stopped to get out at the Waimea Bay where they had a cool little memorial for Eddie Aikau (a very famous surfer).

After a five hour plane trip it was lovely to get out on the beach a bit.

Elliott's first touch of sand!

Here are some pictures of our drive back to the hotel. We loved the rich red soil and the lush green grass, and the mountains in the distance.

Someone had suggested that we go to the Dole plantation, so we drove past and at least got to see how beautiful it was.

We finally checked into our hotel after a full day, and the view was so cool! We stayed at the Hilton Prince at Waikiki which was quite nice. We had a great view of Waikiki beach, and as you can see, we were within walking distance of everything!
