As Collin gets older he moves to more and more complicated construction projects. He began with wood blocks and Lego Duplo. Later he moved to Thomas Train sets and Hotwheels tracks. He then graduated to Big-Kid Legos. His newest projects to take on are plastic models. Michael may have had a little bit of interest in it as well.
Of course his first project must be an SR-71. Michael was excited about this since it is an all-black aircraft. Painting was much simpler.
Although he needed a little bit of help, it was amazing how much he was able to do on his own or with just a little guidance. He helped with almost all of the painting, assembled much of the model, and put most of the decals on and centered them as he wished.
The final product looks pretty good. Our only problem is that he doesn't quite get that it is a "look-don't touch" kind of toy. He wants to fly it around the house. He loves to move his head really close to the model and study the details intensely.
